Economics Honours Volunteers present Duurzaam Utrecht 2030
Raising awareness on what can be done about local climate change impacts, students collected donations for our cookbook Lunetten

The event took place on 9 October 2025, addressing sustainability and the local impact of climate change, with a particular emphasis on what can be done in and around Utrecht. It was part of the Honours Programme of the Economics and Business Economics major. As part of this programme, the initiators Attila and Ausrineare also involved in the Honours Volunteering Project Group, through which they organize events aimed at engaging their fellow students and raising awareness of key social and environmental issues.
Ausrine and Attila gave a presentation on Duurzaam Utrecht 2030 and our activities and raised donations from their fellow students for the cookbook 'Sustainable food on a budget in Lunetten 2025'.
After the event, Attila remarked: "Judging from the reactions not everyone was familiar that such local incentives existed here in Utrecht. Duurzaam Utrecht 2030’s bottom up approach resonated with many of the students because we all enjoy the fruits of our beloved city becoming more sustainable, however it does often feel like that the financially more fortunate people of our society are the ones who can contribute in more ways to this goal, for example they can afford to buy more sustainable products at the grocery store etc. All in all I’m very happy that I could introduce my fellow students to Duurzaam Utrecht 2030 and showing them that we can only achieve sustainability together!"
I hope this will mark the start of future student engagement in Duurzaam Utrecht 2030's activities. Check out the suggestions for study assignments here or contact ineke@duurzaamutrecht2030.nl to discuss the options.
